When you are looking for something a little bit different, our wine tasting evenings are fantastic. They make a great way to entertain clients or colleagues and can be tailored to your exact requirements.

Classic Wine Tastings
 
Perfect for adding a twist to a drinks party, our wine tastings are informative yet informal. A fantastic ice breaker and a great way to bring groups together to learn more about wine whilst indulging their competitive spirit!
 
Each evening follows a theme e.g. regions of France or particular grapes. We have used the example of an Old World wine v New World wine tasting here which makes a really fun evening.
 
Old World v New World Wine Tasting
£30 per head or £45 with canapés
 
Old World v New World Wine Fine Wine Tasting
£85 per head
 
For a really special evening why not start with a Champagne reception and taste some of the finest wines on our list. The wines will be perfectly complimented with delicious canapés.
 
The format
 
Guests will be welcomed with a glass of a Corney & Barrow favourite, Chateau de Sours rosé or a glass of Champagne on arrival. A wine expert will then give a brief introduction on the basics of tasting wine and talk you through the key differences between the New World and Old World viniculture.
 
You will taste a classic example of New World and Old World Sauvignon blanc and your host will then give you tips and hints for distinguishing a New World wine from an Old World wine. You will then be put to the test by blind tasting 4 different wines. Will you be able to tell the Old and the New World apart? At the end of the tasting the two best blind tasters of the night will enter a taste off! The winner will take home a bottle of their favourite wine from the tasting.
 
 
 

The Corney & Barrow Wine Challenge

If you want to add some healthy competition to your event, the C&B wine challenge is the one for you.
 
Your Corney & Barrow wine expert and host for the evening will guide you through a series of blind tastings combined with rounds of questions about wine.

Each round will start with a blind tasting (can you tell a French Chardonnay from a German Reisling?) followed by 6 questions about wine and drinks in general. If you don’t want your evening to be so wine focussed, we can devise a general knowledge quiz for you instead. If you want any particular rounds, just let us know!
 
At the end of the quiz, enjoy canapés as your scores are added up and the winner announced. A bottle of Champagne will then be rewarded to the winning team!
 
The C&B wine challenge can be adjusted according to your level of wine knowledge and budget. All quizzes are for a minimum of 16 guests and a maximum of 50.

Wine Challenge A – £37.50 per person

This evening includes glass of white wine on arrival, 6 tasting wines, Corney & Barrow Canape menu A, mineral water and a bottle of Delamotte Champagne for the winning team.
 
Wine Challenge B – £55 per person
 
This evening includes a glass of Delamotte Champagne on arrival, 6 tasting wines, Corney & Barrow Canape menu B, mineral water and a bottle of Laurent-Perrier Rosé Champagne for the winning team.
 
Wine Challenge C – £85 per person
 
This evening includes a glass of Veuve Clicquot Champagne on arrival, taste 6 of our finest wines, Corney & Barrow Canape menu C, mineral water and a magnum of Veuve Clicquot Champagne for the winning team.
 
 
 

“The Wine Is Right” Evening
 
“The Wine Is Right” is an entertaining, interactive evening for a larger group. Moving away from traditional wine tasting formats, “The Wine Is Right” is all about having fun and entertaining your guests.
 
You will be split into 5 teams to battle it out in a series of wine related challenges. Different people from each group will take part in 5 rounds for the chance to earn points for their team. They will have to use all their senses to identify smells and taste wines blindfolded. Will your boss be able to tell the premier cru from the house to give your team the edge?
 
Celebrate or commiserate afterwards with canapés for all your guests. The winning team will receive Champagne!
 
The “Wine Is Right” evening can be tailored according to your level of wine knowledge and budget. All options are for a minimum of 40 guests and a maximum of 100.
 

“The Wine Is Right” Option A – £45 per person
 
This evening includes glass of Marquis de Lissac Sauvignon Blanc on arrival, wines to taste during the challenges, one bottle of Petit Bourgeois Sauvignon or Valpolicella per person, Corney & Barrow Canape menu A, mineral water and a bottle of Delamotte Champagne for the winner.
 
“The Wine Is Right” Option B – £60 per person
 
This evening includes glass of Delamotte Champagne on arrival, wines to taste during the challenges, one bottle of Trinity Hill Chardonnay or Gatekeeper Shiraz per person, Corney & Barrow Canape menu B, mineral water and a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Champagne for the winner.
 
“The Wine Is Right” Option C – £85 per person
 
This evening includes glass of Veuve Clicquot Champagne on arrival, wines to taste during the challenges, one bottle of Olivier LeFlaive Mersault or Muddy Water Pinot Noir per person, Corney & Barrow Canape menu C, mineral water and a Magnum of Veuve Clicquot Champagne for the winner.
